BUP Finland

The Baltic University Programme

The Baltic University Programme (BUP) is a network of about 230 universities and other institutes of higher learning in the Baltic Sea region. The BUP focuses on questions of sustainable development, environmental protection, and democracy. It is an innovative network with the aim to enhance higher education both on a local and on an international level.

BUP arranges international university courses and teachers conferences.  Interdisciplinary research cooperation and participation in trans-disciplinary projects with authorities and municipalities are also supported.

The BUP Finland

The BUP Finland is both a BUP Associate Secretariat and National Centre. BUP Finland is located at the Centre for Lifelong Learning at Åbo Akademi University  in Turku.

The main responsibility of the BUP Associate Secretariat’s is education. We arranges courses, workshops, etc. for teachers in higher education and also for researchers and educational planners.

The BUP Finnish National Centre coordinates the Finnish universities’ and polytechnics’ activities in the BUP network, such as students and teachers conferences.

BUP in Finland is the coordinating part for all the Finnish universities and polytechnics within the BUP network.

Japanese visit to BUP Finland

Last week three professors from Kyutech Institute of Technology visited the BUP Finland office at Åbo Akademi University. They also attended the first day of the BUP course for teachers’ workshop in Tallinn. Education for Sustainable Development was the common interest.

The Baltic Sea Science Day Award to Savitri Jetoo at Åbo Akademi University

The final conference for the Baltic Science Network (BSN) and the CBSS Annual Baltic Sea Science Day was held on the occasion of the centenary of the University of Latvia, in Riga on 22–23 February 2019.
