XIII International Environmental Forum "Baltic Sea Day"
21-23rd of March 2012.

The basic themes of the event will be: interim results and exchanging of experience between Baltic parties in the frame of National Baltic Sea Action Plans implementation, wide scope of international projects and initiatives, actual challenges for Baltic region and input into new paradigm of sustainable development in the light of the Roadmap from Stockholm, 1972 to Rio-De-Janeiro, 2012 (Stockholm+40 / Rio+20).

Moreover discussing of the program for holding the “Year of the Gulf of Finland” will be actual part of forum events as initiative for supporting of long-term Russian-Finnish-Estonian cooperation and building networks for cooperation and development of partnerships in the frame of coordinated work for wellbeing of the Baltic Sea.

Discussions in the frame of round table “Maritime Spatial Planning as a tool for integrated management of human activities in marine areas for their efficient use and ensuring nature conservation” will be Focused on identification of regional Baltic-wide examples contributing to Rio+20 UN Conference on Sustainable Development and sharing experiences on developing and testing broad-scale maritime spatial planning principles between stakeholders from the Baltic Sea Region with specific attention on North-West region of Russia, including St. Petersburg, Leningrad, Kaliningrad, Pskov and Novgorod Oblasts and Karelia.

The Forum unites people interested in providing of the environmental safety and wellbeing of the Baltic Sea and gives opportunity to discuss strategic issues between high level representatives of key players of the Baltic Region. High level of representation from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, Secretariat HELCOM, the profile Ministries of the countries of the Baltic region is expected at the Forum in 2012.
