Description
For millennia, scientific innovations have played critical roles in the development of civilizations around the world, and they are also the main driving force behind the great industrial revolutions that shape many of today's societies.
Unfortunately, the use of many of these modern technologies has also created unprecedented stress on our global climate. Ironically, the key to alleviating this problem might come from advances in science and technology.
"Futuropolis 2058: Creating Sustainable Urban Environments through Innovation" is a two day conference initiated by Singapore's Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and the Fulbright Academy of Science & Technology. It aims to bring together the world's most respected technical experts and visionaries to shape the thinking and practice of urban leaders. The conference will function as a catalyst to influence how the urban environments of the future are studied, planned and managed through areas such as urban infrastructure, city management, housing, sustainable energy, social networking technologies and transportation systems.
The program will include panel discussions, poster sessions, workshops and presentations on technologies, trends and emerging scientific research that could support sustainable metropolises of the future.
