Marine and Coastal Spatial Planning

This unique course is built up with a theoretical background and followed by a more practical approach (learning-by-doing case studies). Finnish and international lecturers from several fields of research, management and planning institutes will share their knowledge on maritime and coastal spatial planning. The course language is English.

The final report from the: UN High-level Panel on Global Sustainability (chaired by president Tarja Halonen & president Jacob Zuma) is available via: http://www.un.org/gsp/.

The report is a major contribution to the RIO +20 Conference in June 2012.

Towards Sustainable Consumption

Consumers’ behaviour is key to the impact that society has on the environment. The actions that people take and choices they make – to consume certain products and services or to live in certain ways rather than others – all have direct and indirect impacts on the environment, as well as on personal (and collective) well-being. This is why the topic of ‘sustainable consumption’ has become a central focus for national and international policy.

As a co-organizer of the conference the Baltic University Programme would like to announce a competition for conference abstracts: the organization committee will choose the 10 best abstracts sumitted by the BUP students. The conference participation fee for these students will be covered by the Baltic University Programme.

To take part in the conference you need to send the abstract of your report and application form to the conference e-mail: iscs@ua.fm and copy to: iscs@fem.sumdu.edu.ua by March 20th, 2012.

The intended target groups for the conference are scientists, lecturers of Institutions of higher education, graduates, representatives of the business-structures, interested in the topics of the conference. The languages of the conference are English, Russian, Ukrainian.

We are happy to welcome you to participate in the second of four international seminars in the project: Education for Sustainable Development in Academia in the Nordic countries, ESDAN, which have a two year financing (1.3.2011- 30.3.2013) from the Nordic Council of Ministers. This seminar is organized in cooperation with the Novia Norden project.
