Finally, the seminar will enable participants to exchange experiences and ideas and acquire new contacts and links. Papers are now being invited. Selected papers will be published in one book and in international, peer-reviewed journals.
Sustainable Development (SD) is a development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. This definition was presented in 1987 in the Brundtland Report, also known as “Our common future”, from the World Commission on Environment and Development (WCED), a body created by the UN General Assembly in 1983.
At the 1992 UN Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro “Agenda 21” was adopted by the representatives of 179 countries. In this document, the concept of Sustainable Development acquired a status of being a main principle for mankind´s existence.
