EU as Global Actor, an international event in association with the Swedish Presidency of the European Union,  an arena for policymakers, experts and practitioners in education and training, wants to bring the imperative implementation of Education for sustainable development into both the European context of lifelong learning and the European expression of key competences.

This conference aims at promoting Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in Higher Education, supporting the core mission and goals for the UN-Decade for ESD (2005-20014):

Higher education is (beside the role of professional research and learning outcome within each field of expertize) - also expected to promote skills and tools for intercultural/ interdisciplinary understanding, social responsibility and abilities to take professional and personal actions for SUSTAINABILITY; interconnecting environmental, socio-cultural and economic perspectives in order to create a more sustainable future. The main focus for the conference is to analyze these challenges and discuss new ways of actions.
