Åbo Akademi University (ÅA) has acted as the BUP Finnish National Centre ever since the BUP Network started in 1991.  As the Finnish National Centre the main task is to support the Finnish universities participating in the BUP network.

The Finnish National Centre is also one of three BUP Associate Centres. As such the centre is responsible for the pedagogical development within the Baltic University Programme. The tasks include organisation of university teachers courses and conferences and the development of new courses for both students and teachers.  For the courses that includes also the course materials.
