This website

is an introduction to the topic of Global Responsibility. The website is made on the initiative and funding of the Finnish Ministry of Education, in cooperation with the Baltic University Programme Secretariat at Uppsala University, as part of their larger project Education for Global Responsibility. It may be used for general information, but is firstly intended to be a support for those starting an education, either as part of existing curricula or as a new course. It is produced for higher education, but much of it may well be used in gymnasium level schools.

The site contains presently 5 films and 8 texts.

The films are built from hundreds of pictures, almost all available on Internet for general use. Under "Sources and Information on Images" each picture has a link. There is also a shorter or longer description of its origin and content. Many of the pictures are unique and portray a situation worth describing and discussing in detail. The images thus constitute a perfect material for discussion groups or topics for students group work or presentations.

The films have a text column to the left, in which basic facts or sometimes supporting information is displayed. The images, the voice and the text are thus collectively meant to contribute to the message of the film.

Under Texts you find extended versions of the manuscripts read for the films. They may be studied as basic texts or used together with the references and links included at the end for course purposes.

The films may be downloaded for local use. The sources of the films contain all credit lines to be used together with the individual images.
